Hey there!

Threeplus Wargaming will be hosting our Open tournament for 40k, happening at the annual ICON gaming event at Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park this year over the weekend of 20-22 April, and we’d love it if you could join us!

The tournament will be run as an Open 1250pt tournament.

Rules:
- Warhammer 40k 8th Edition.
- 1250pt list size maximum.
- Maximum of 3 detachments per army.
- Finalized and beta matched play rules up to 31st March 2019 will be in effect.
- Games will be played to a strict 90-minute time limit.

Army Building:
- Any Codex, up to and including those released by the 31st of March 2019 will be valid and legal. Any Index that does not yet have a codex will be legal.
- Fully painted is requirement (i.e. 3 colours minimum). 3 spots of colour on top of a primed black/grey white model do not count. Any models that don't meet this requirement are not allowed on the table.
- Counts-as will be allowed, letting you proxy models you have for similar models (i.e. all the plasma guns in an army may ‘count as’ grav guns for purposes of identification) at the TO’s discretion.
- 1 day tournament, running 3 games during the day. We are looking to end early due to holidays and religious observances.
Games will be played to a strict 90-minute time limit.

Tournament scoring and points:
- Missions will be a mix of Eternal War and/or Maelstrom of War type games.
- W/L/D/C: 3/2/1/0
- Lack of basing on models: -1TP
- WYSIWYG: 1TP (armies will be inspected either on registration or during the event, please announce that your army is so note can be made of who to check.)
- Presenting a PRINTED list to the TO on registration: 1TP (it's also polite to have another copy for your opponent to review if asked.)
- Your entire army sharing the same <FACTION> keywords across all its units, in addition to the usual list building rules for Matched Play: 1TP (NOTE: Units in armies with rules that stop their detachment from not benefiting from a <SUB-FACTION> keyword by their inclusion i.e. "Advisors and Auxilia" (IG Codex pg132), are the only exception to this.)

Entry Fee: R50 entrance for the tournament, in addition to ICON entry (R125/day, R250 weekend pass)

Prizes: no-one goes away empty handed, we have a couple of nice prizes to give away, so you won’t be disappointed.

Other Stuff: Food, drink and secure parking will be available.

What next?: Contact Peter or myself and book your place! Please include all registration related emails with “ICON 2019 40k Registration” in the subject line.

We ensure that we have space for all pre-registered players as a minimum, so register now and don’t miss out on what’s promising to be a really fun event!

Q&A

Q: "Do we choose psychic powers on our army lists or during deployment?"
A: As per the BRB (pg.178 "Psychic Powers), psychic powers are generated immediately before deployment, not during list creation..

Q: "So a question if everything is from the mechanics codex, but you keep 85 points and a cp free. Do you ge the 1tp for 1 faction and still pull in an assassin?"
A: Nope. Since assassins don't have that Advisors and Auxilia rule or similar.
The only reason they don't break detachment keywords is that they're brought out during deployment, not listbuilding

There has been some confusion as to exactly what 3 colours and based means.

In light of this, basing as a requirement is being waived, but 1TP will be deducted if all your models aren't all based.

3 colours minimum is being enforced as a requirement, and models that don't meet this minimum level are not allowed on the table.

Results are up. Some battle reports posted up would be even better.

Thank you to everyone who played, and looking forward to seeing you at the next one.
