Now the moment you've all been waiting for.

After much back and forth between the tournament organisers, we've finally completed the rules pack.

Here it is.

Please feel free to email the tourney organisers or post comments/questions here.

For what it's worth, I really hope we can get as many people from up North to come down for the event.

The quality of gaming is really strong up there and will add a lot to the development of the hobby down this side, along with showing off some exciting new styles of play and exciting list ideas.

If memory serves the Cape sent at least 8 people last year?

Hope to see all the main players down this side!

cheers.

Looks good, Nigel was talking about an under 19 section on the day before nationals - can this be confirmed or with the junior section just be apart of the main event?

"- Models should be fully WYSIWYG. Failure to have WYSIWYG models will not allow you bonus appearance points.
- Additionally, armies with models that are not fully painted will not allow you bonus appearance points."

"Appearance Points:
There will be no points deducted for appearance, however players may gain additional points for the following:
- Army Painted (3 Colour minimum) and based. 1 Point
- Army Fully WYSIWYG. 1 Point."

Are the two appearance criteria exclusive? I read the first two lines at present as 'if any part of your army is not WYSIWYG, you may not get appearance points for either WYSIWYG or painting', ditto for painting.

Or do you get 1 point if your army is fully WYSIWYG, regardless of painting, and ditto for painting regardless of WYSIWYG?

Im assuming the seize ground missions follow the set 3 objectives and 5 objectives, and that it's not rolled for. I cant seem to find it in the rules pack that the number of objectives are set, or are they in fact rolled for?
I play nurgle because im to lazy to paint a horde army, at least im honest.

That will be determined on the day and will apply equally to all tables/players.

Epiche,
Sorry if the wording is a bit off. It went through quite a few revisions before the finished product, so there may be certain things that didnt align 100%.

How it works in the rules pack at the moment is as follows:

Appearance is comprised of two aspects- WYSIWYG and Painting.

If your models are all WYSIWYG -you receive 1 bonus point.
If your models are all painted and based - you receive 1 bonus point.

The maximum bonus points you receive for appearance is 2.

Hope that helps.

Sorry to butt in like this, specially seeing as I can’t make it down this year.

But surely this being Nationals, WYSWIG is a must?

I suppose it depends on whether or not you want more attendance or less? I believe that by making it part of the points only, it allows for more people to take part in the tournament.

I think its a matter of allowing a flamer to be a melta gun but not allowing a coke can to be a carnifex. There are limits, but I believe it is in the spirit of more gamers means more fun.

I remeber what an insane mission it was for me to get my ig painted for Nationals last year. I think the TO's would rather you come and suffer a small penalty than rather not come at all.

Yes nationals is competative but that doesn't not mean it needs to be exsclusive and yes I definately think WYSIWYG is more NB than painting yet I think I understand why its not " you have it or you dont play" :D

I'm also a firm believer that Nationals should be fully wysiwig and painted. I doubt people will stay away because of that. If you want to play you will paint your models. I know I always have in the past. All this is doing is creating a lazy attitude in gamers...

In my opinion top level tournaments should have certain standards and they should be met no matter what.

Having a large attendance is good, but rather build prestige around the event as well.

Regionals and Nationals should be WYSIWYG and fully painted. Local club events can be the venue where you are more lenient.

Its like saying to the Springbok team, don't worry if you don't have the right kit, any shirt will do.

At the moment we are not even pushing qualifying for Nationals which for now is fine, but if we grow the hobby to where we want it then that should also be a criteria.

For what it's worth, personally, i'm with RIP and Da Ra Kur.

I believe any tournaments should be fully WYSIWYG and Painted.
Its a hobby after all. And those are important and fundamental aspects of the hobby.
